The Committee of Experts of Better Biomass has decided on 9 February 2026 to terminate the use of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for biomethane (green gas) as transaction documents within the Better Biomass scheme.
For all transactions involving biomethane, a separate transaction document shall henceforth be issued, in accordance with the requirements of the Better Biomass scheme. All parties issuing transaction documents under Better Biomass must be Better Biomass certified. Gas traders must also be certified for the scope: “Trader” to be allowed to issue these transaction documents.
