New certification documents as of December 2024

1This page contains the new (English) documents for certification of biomass for energy applications and biobased products, as approved by the EC for Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (Renewable Energy Directive [RED II]) and the supplementary Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/996 on rules to verify sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria and low indirect land-use change-risk criteria of 14 June 2022.

These schedule documents can be applied optionally from December 2024 and will be mandatory for all assessments from 1 June 2025.

Clarification
The certification system aims to minimize differences in interpretation. In case of interpretation issues, the Committee of Experts establishes the interpretation for the requirement in question and publishes it on this website. NEN SCHEME MANAGEMENT MANUAL

General procedures
This scheme management manual describes the procedure for the development and management of schemes by NEN. The procedures of NEN for developing and managing schemes are aligned with the requirements applied by accreditation bodies associated with the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and European cooperation for Accreditation (EA).
